Inner peace is the chief pursuit of all people. They may not label it as such, but such it is. However one chooses to define the highest human achievement, sought by people of every tongue and tribe in the world, taken together and taken apart, that pursuit is the pursuit of peace.
Peace. Inner peace. How to find that one, single condition of personal rest and tranquility? Is it by elimination of all conflict? Is it by restructuring society? Is it by achieving all that we desire? Is it by war? The lack of war?
The obvious answer here is no. No, none of these things lead to an overall sense of inner peace. We can witness this truth played out in every life, everywhere.
One of the major flaws of the human creature lies in his or her method of achieving ideals. The pursuit of peace is one of those. Humankind seeks to attain peace by changing other people, or changing their situation, or changing their environment.
And in doing this, people guarantee they will never find true, inner peace. Because the condition of peace is not found by changing circumstances, or relations, or world. Or anything.
True inner peace is found by allowing God to change one’s perspective.
How one views life and the God who created life is vital to that person’s sense of satisfaction. When we view God for who He is, when we give Him the respect due Him, and when we live our lives as He instructed us to live, we achieve that seemingly ever-elusive condition of genuine inner peace. We discover that the ultimate source of our personal angst and turmoil is rooted in our broken relationship to the God who made us.
When we cease our rebellion against God, subject ourselves to His will and fix our relationship to Him, all else starts to fix itself. Of course, we still have trouble (what else can we expect living in a broken, sin-soaked world), BUT everything becomes manageable, and conflicts are minimized. When our relationship to God is right, our relationships to spouses, family members, bosses, employees, etc and etc start to mend themselves.
It is an amazing but true phenomenon.
It is my hope that you might find here some answers to deep and probing questions about life. How to view God, how to view His Word, how to relate to others, how to view money, and much, much more can be found here on this site.
Perhaps you will be led to understand God and the life He has given you, which will surely result in true, inner peace!
